Les Arbres noirs 26 (Les Arbres noirs series)
Born in 1989, Audrey Casalis is graduated from École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. Her work declines nuances of black, with all the thickness that it gives to the subjects she tackles. As the author of a diary would do with the power of words, she uses black stone with a perfect technical mastery to envisage the detours of the human mind.
Her series evoke how much difficult it is to apprehend the world. When solitude takes over, how can we carry on with an autonomy of thought and emotion ? The suffering body is hindered by the fears of being alone, the terrible reality of coming to birth. But the spirit also knows how to find the luminous glow of hope and liberation; every shadow exists only through the light that faces it.
By underlining the quiet sensation, the artist leaves the possibility of a cure. Her observation opens up the recognition of a courage, that of facing the trials of a present where we are locked in silence or isolation. Sometimes, the path is long to go beyond the walls of our mental prisons, but always we travel to make our own intimate demons meet the perspectives of the world that welcomes us.
